Il giglio delle spiagge (Pancratium maritimum) è una pianta bulbosa della famiglia delle Amaryllidaceae, che cresce spontaneamente sui litorali sabbiosi del Mar Mediterraneo e del Mar Nero. Si presenta con degli fusti diritti alti fino a 40 cm, presentano dei fiori profumatissimi, che sbocciano solo dopo l’appassimento delle foglie, con una bellissima forma a stella.
La fioritura del giglio delle spiegge avviene nel periodo compreso tra giugno e settembre rappresentando a tutti gli effetti una specie che tutti gli appassionati di mare conoscono bene.
Può essere anche coltivato come pianta ornamentale ma è bene ricordare che contiene degli alcaloidi molto tossici, quindi considerato velenoso.

It comes with straight stems up to 40 cm tall, with very fragrant flowers, which bloom only after the withering of the leaves, with a beautiful star shape.
The flowering takes place in the period between June and September representing in all respects a species that all sea lovers know well.
It can also be cultivated as an ornamental plant but it is good to remember that it contains very toxic alkaloids, therefore considered poisonous.
